Event formats

Three event formats determine which features are available — picked at creation, upgradable later within plan limits.

Updated May 26, 2026

Mercleo Events offers three event formats: simple, multi-session, and conference. The format you pick determines which features are available for the event — sessions, tracks, registration paths, multi-day scheduling, and badge designer are all gated behind the format selection.

When the format is chosen

Format is selected on the New event form. After creation, the format remains visible on the Setup tab's General section and can be upgraded (simple to multi-session, simple or multi-session to conference) if your plan allows the target format. Downgrades are not supported once features tied to a higher format are in use.

Simple

A single-occurrence event. Available on every plan, including the free tier. Covers most events: workshops, fundraisers, parties, classes, panel discussions.

  • Ticket types, discount codes, access codes, attestations, and custom questions.
  • Public registration microsite and embed widgets.
  • Check-in, kiosk, and analytics.
  • No sessions, no tracks, no registration paths, no multi-day scheduling.

Multi-session

An event with multiple sessions attendees can select between or attend in sequence. Suitable for full-day summits, training programs, or any event where attendees pick from a schedule of breakouts. Requires the Pro plan.

  • Everything available in Simple, plus the items below.
  • Sessions, tracks, and speakers.
  • Registration paths for audience segmentation.
  • Price tiers for early-bird and late-registration pricing.

Conference

A multi-day event with sub-events for each day. Each day can have its own sessions, microsite section, and badge design. Suitable for multi-day conferences, festivals, and retreats. Requires the Pro plan.

  • Everything available in Multi-session, plus the items below.
  • Multi-day scheduling with sub-event days.
  • Badge design and printing.
  • Per-day ticket types (a ticket can be valid for specific days or for the full event).

What you see when a format is locked

Formats your plan does not include appear in the format picker with a PRO badge and a disabled state. An upgrade link below the picker takes you to your account's billing settings to change plans.

Pick the smallest format that covers what you need. Upgrades are available later if your event grows in scope, but starting at conference for a single-day workshop adds tabs and configuration you'll never use.
