Comp tickets

Issue complimentary or manually recorded tickets to any attendee directly from the Registrations table — no public checkout required. Use the Walk-in button for immediate at-the-door entry, or Manual Registration for invited guests, comped tickets, and offline-paid orders.

Mercleo Events gives you two ways to register an attendee without sending them through the public checkout: the Walk-in button and the Manual Registration button. Both live on the toolbar above the Registrations table.

Walk-in vs Manual Registration

Use Walk-in when someone shows up at the door and you want to get them through quickly. The Walk-in dialog asks for a name, email, and ticket type. Optionally, you can check them in on the spot. No Stripe, no email sent.

Use Manual Registration when you're issuing tickets in advance: comping a speaker, recording a cash payment, sending a payment link to a VIP, or giving a contact multiple tickets they can distribute to their team. The modal supports the full ticket-issuance flow, including email notification and block assignment.

Walk-ins do not send a confirmation email and do not create a Stripe charge. They are a one-step record — name, ticket type, done.

Manual Registration fields

Contact — search your workspace's existing contacts by name or email (results appear after two characters), or fill in First name, Last name, Email, and Phone to create a new one. Email is required.

Track — visible only when your event has registration paths. Selecting a track filters the ticket types and price tiers shown below, mirroring what buyers see on the public form. When the event has exactly one path, it is pre-selected.

Ticket selection — quantity steppers per ticket type. When the event has price tiers, a per-type tier picker appears as soon as you set a quantity above zero. You must pick a tier for each tiered type before you can submit.

Hidden ticket types — those not shown on your public registration form — are available in the Manual Registration modal. Use them for staff, press, or sponsor comps without exposing those options to the general public.

Payment modes

Once you've selected at least one ticket, the Payment section appears with three options:

  • Comp tickets — zeroes the total regardless of the ticket price. Tickets are confirmed immediately. No payment required.
  • Already paid offline — records the registration as paid without charging through Stripe. Use this when payment was collected by bank transfer, cash, or another out-of-band method.
  • Send payment link — generates a Stripe Checkout session. Tickets are not released until Stripe confirms payment. The checkout URL is shown to you after creation so you can copy it directly, or you can send it by email.

Block assignment for multi-ticket comps

When you issue more than one ticket, a Block assignment checkbox appears. When checked, the first ticket is confirmed under the buyer's name; all remaining tickets are left unclaimed and appear in their attendee portal with an "Action required" prompt.

The buyer can claim unclaimed tickets themselves (adding a name to each seat) or transfer them to other people via the portal. This is the right shape for a sponsor who receives six tickets and needs to distribute them across their team.

Email notification options

For comp and offline-paid registrations, you choose one of three email modes:

  • Send confirmation invitation — sends the attendee a magic-link to sign into the attendee portal at /my/events. They see their tickets, claim any unclaimed ones, and can transfer others from there. This is the default for comped registrations.
  • Send final confirmation — sends the standard post-registration confirmation email with QR codes for check-in. Use this when the attendee does not need to claim or fill in ticket details.
  • Don't send email — creates the registration silently. Useful when you're contacting the attendee out-of-band or handling email delivery yourself.

When you choose Send payment link as the payment mode, the email options change to: send the Stripe Checkout link by email, or don't send.

What the attendee receives

When you choose Send confirmation invitation, the attendee receives an email containing a magic-link. Clicking it signs them into the attendee portal — no password required.

Once inside the portal, their tickets are visible. Any ticket issued as part of a block shows an "Action required" badge. The attendee can claim it by adding their details inline, or forward the claim link to whoever should hold that seat.

Attendees who already have a Mercleo account sign in with their existing credentials. New attendees sign in via the same magic-link — no account creation step required.
